Dear All,
The 7th European Rural Development Network Conference 2009 „Linking Competitiveness With Equity And Sustainability: New Ideas For The Socio-Economic Development Of Rural Areas” provided significant scientific input to our knowledge of European rural areas processes. We would like to thank organizers of the Conference, namely Judit Katona-Kovács and József Antal from University of Debrecen, Centre of Agricultural and Technical Sciences and Andrew Fieldsend from Agricultural Economics Research Institute in Budapest for all their effort that result in outstanding organisation of the Conference. More than 20 presentation (See News section) covered issues of rural knowledge transfer, social capital and networks, diversification and possibilities for rural businesses and policy analysis. Certainly we wish to continue discussions we had during the conference while they allowed us to exchange not only results of our works but also new ideas and visions of future development of rural areas in Europe. I am sure that all of us will take an advantage of providing the broad society of rural development stakeholders by preparing the articles for the 7 volume of Rural Development Studies.
