Call for Papers

 Invitation

The Organising Committee of the European Rural Development Network (ERDN) cordially invites you to the 8th ERDN Conference. The Conference will take place in rural areas of Poland in second half of October 2010.

Background

The European Rural Development Network (ERDN) is a networking community of experts in the field of rural areas particularly in Central-Eastern Europe (www.erdn.eu). They effort in investigation rural processes across Europe provide extensive knowledge needed to understand what is the meaning of agricultural development. It is well known that the policies targeting the rural areas are changing. The originally agriculture sector orientation is strongly moving toward rural space policies. This process is reflected in changing paradigms of rural development considered as a base for policy and strategic planning formulation.

While the ERDN community poses extensive knowledge of rural processes and willing to contribute to the process of successful rural development policy planning. Different scientific backgrounds and cross national origin of ERDN experts provides complex and interdisciplinary quality solutions.   

The Objectives of the meeting

The meeting aims to stimulate theoretical and empirical discussions on current and possible new approaches to formulate rural development paradigm and policies namely relevant to Central- Eastern Europe regions. Economists, social scientists, policy makers and natural scientists are invited to enrich the discussion from different scientific perspectives. The provisional topics are:

 Theories of rural development – they relevance to contemporary rural processes

 Rural policies interactions with development paradigms

Specific science understanding of rural development processes and possible interactions with other

 Important Dates

The deadlines for the conference are:

15 April 2010: Submission of collaborative abstracts

24 May: Notification of acceptance of papers

30 September 2010: Submission of full papers

15 - 17 October 2010: ERDN Conference in Poland
